HYPACK® Editing

Editing Features
HYPACK® provides all of the tools necessary to edit, reduce and review your single beam echosounder and magnetometer data.

Tides
HYPACK® provides several methods for users to reduce their sounding data to their desired vertical datum.

During SURVEY:

  • Manually enter water level corrections.
  • Read telemetry tide data directly into SURVEY.
  • Determine water levels from the vertical component of RTK GPS.

In post-processing:
  • Generate time vs tide predicted/observed tide corrections table using predicted high/low water, observed tides or harmonic constituents. These are then applied in the editor.

  • Apply interpolated tide values from two or more gauges along a river
  • Adjust the tide values from your gauge based on the sounding position relative to the gauge.
Using the elevation of the RTK antenna to determine the real time water-level correction.

Users can generate predicted water levels by using high/low water times and heights over one or more days, by using harmonic constituents or by importing NOAA gauge information from the Internet.

Sound Velocity Corrections
HYPACK® allows users to generate sound velocity corrections for Single Beam, Multiple Transducer and Multibeam data, which can be applied during post-processing.

Single Beam/Dual Frequency Data
The SINGLE BEAM EDITOR program edits both single beam and dual frequency data, along with other sensors such as magnetometers, gravity meters, flourimeters, etc.

  • Loads and displays and entire day’s work in seconds.
  • Applies water level corrections, standard or RTK Tides.
  • Permits smoothing of track lines and RTK Tidal corrections.
  • Displays depth profiles based on distance along line or time.
  • Configurable spreadsheet shows all survey info for each data point and can be output to ASCII TXT.
  • Automated filters quickly eliminate outliers.

The edited data is stored to a separate file, meaning you can always return to the original data set.

The SINGLE BEAM EDITOR allows you to quickly review, edit and save your single beam and dual frequency data.

Sounding Selection
HYPACK® can collect thousands of soundings per second. The Processing section contains four Sounding Selection programs for reducing your survey data, depending on your final application.

SORT: Creates a cartographic data set that guarantees the minimum or maximum soundings will be saved.

CROSS SORT: The CROSS SORT program was developed for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It selects soundings to prevent overwrites where lines intersect.

Sounding selection programs allow you to eliminate overwrites and to prepare your data set for plotting and export to CAD.

MAPPER: MAPPER is the binning program of HYPACK®. Users create a Matrix file in HYPACK®. They can then read the data (single beam, multiple transducer or multibeam) and determine the minimum, maximum, average, or closest to center depth for each cell of the matrix. This information can then be exported to an ASCII XYZ file for further use in HYPACK® or for import into other applications.

SOUNDING REDUCTION (SR): It allows users to create a sub-set of XYZ data which accurately reflects the entire data set. This sub-set is created based on changes of inflection of the bottom surface. It saves multiple points in areas of changing topography and few points in flat areas.

The programs detailed above are provided in the HYPACK®, HYPACK® LITE, and HYPACK® OFFICE versions.
